Best stoner movies on Netflix: Netflix has been doing a fantastic job keeping us entertained (especially during Covid-19… #AmIRight)?! With so many good options, we wanted to break down our favorites in the #Cannabis category for all you stoners out there.
So let’s roll up, get your snacks and your drinks and get ready because these shows will have you glued to your couch…..for a few days at least!
Best stoner movies on Netflix:
Two homies, Smokey and Craig, smoke a dope dealer’s weed and try to figure a way to get the $200 they owe to the dealer by ten pm that same night. During that time, they smoke weed, get jacked, and they get shot at in a drive-by. This is a movie from 1995 starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker.
Running for eight seasons (2005-2012), this groundbreaking Showtime series mines dark humor from the fictional drug trade in an affluent California suburb. Mary Louise-Parker is Nancy Botwin, a mother of two boys who starts selling cannabis to support her family after the unexpected death of her husband. After falling in love with a DEA agent, Botwin’s split role as a mother and drug kingpin becomes increasingly hard to manage.
The world of legalized, commercialized pot has officially broken the surface and introduced itself to society. It is no surprise that other industries have started to build off of it, including pot journalism. The Denver Post became the first major media outlet to appoint a marijuana editor.

A cannabis sitcom starring Kathy Bates!!! Ruth (Bates) is a longtime advocate for the legalization of marijuana. She finally gets a chance to live her dream when she becomes the owner of a Los Angeles cannabis dispensary. Helping her run Ruth’s Alternative Caring are her charismatic “budtenders”. One of which is her entrepreneurial 20-something son and a troubled security guard.
As one might expect, the trio is pretty much constantly high while working. New problems with each new episode. Too funny to pass up. Speaking of… #puffpuffpass anyone?!
“Cooking on High”
This show is about a culinary competition series that has a specific element that distinguishes it from other shows in the genre. That distinguishing factor is that each recipe prepared on the show must contain cannabis!!! Also, each dish needs to contain enough cannabis to get the judges high. Each episode pins two chefs against each other in a single round. The challenge is to create a dish based on a particular theme and also using the chosen strain of marijuana.
The contestant who earns the higher score is awarded a golden pot (the kind you cook with). Despite the marijuana-centric aspect of the show, the contestants are legitimate chefs. Most have great backgrounds that include working as executive chefs. Some of them have also trained at Le Cordon Bleu! YouTube personality Josh Leyva is the host of the show. Along with him, comic and noted cannabis enthusiast Ngaio Bealum serves as the resident “culinary weed expert.” Get your munchies ready…it’s a mouth-watering competition!
“Highland: Thailand’s Marijuana Awakening”
This documentary mini-series is all about cannabis in Thailand. This documentary specializes in telling in-depth stories about what’s going on in Asia. The directors chose to capture the evolving state of cannabis in a country known for its’ severe punishments and looming social stigma against any form of the plant. The mini-series consists of three episodes at just 20 minutes each. They all focus on the origins of cannabis in the country, the slowly blossoming medical cannabis community, and the emerging recreational scene in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
When a huge marijuana shipment falls prey to thieves, the aftermath touches players from all ranks of the drug trade between Morocco and Europe. This is an international show starring in France. So if you speak French, you’re good to go!

Cooked with Cannabis is another competitive cooking show! In this show, three chefs make cannabis infused meals for a chance to win $10,000. Co-hots Kelis and Leather Storrs judge the contestants with the assistance of their “best buds”. These best buds star as guests on the show. Maybe this show will teach you a thing or two around a kitchen and cooking with cannabis?
“The Legend of 420”
What better way to start off a 420 party than by learning all about the history of the plant itself? This movie is an explorative documentary that explores the controversial use of marijuana. Along with that, it showcases cannabis’s historical transition into acceptance from mainstream society. What changed that turned this Schedule 1 Drug into a medicine that is being legalized today? “Grass Is Greener”
America’s relationship with cannabis is a complicated one. In his directorial debut, hip hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy (Yo! MTV Raps) presents an unparalleled look at the racially biased history of the war on marijuana. Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill’s B-Real, and Damian Marley join a range of celebrities and experts in this documentary. They discuss the plant’s influence on music and popular culture, and the devastating impact its criminalization has had on black and Latino communities.

“That ’70s Show”
Most of us have either seen or heard of this iconic sitcom. While That ‘70s Show is not completely about pot, they sure do smoke a ton of it! This hysterical sitcom starring Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace and more follows a group of quintessential teens growing up in America’s Dairyland during the ‘70s. As they fumble their ways through adolescence, puberty, falling in love and many more coming-of-age tropes, the key characteristics of the decade follow them everywhere, including constant references to that smoke in a circle. To sum it up, it’s quite funny…especially when you’re high!
“Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner”
The series follows celebrity chef David Chang as he travels around the world. Chang meetis up with celebrity friends and eats fantastic food from their childhoods. We get bites of dim sum with pot-lover Seth Rogen, tastes of fried food and crayfish with Lena Waithe, some chow down on lamb in Marrakesh with Chrissy Teigen and much more. Hungry yet?
“Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle”
Now this one is a CLASSIC!!! There is nothing more quintessential and perfect than watching our two favorite underdogs in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. This is a comedy about a mind-altering drug (cannabis) these two young men ingest. The silly comedy follows Harold and Kumar (played by John Cho and Kal Penn).
On a typical Friday night, these two dummies develop an intense craving for White Castle hamburgers. What follows is a whimsical, spontaneous and philosophical road trip to get the precious food they crave so much. Also, young Neil Patrick Harris appears in this movie! Definitely worth a watch.
“Trailer Park Boys: The Movie”
Your favorite trailer trash family has finally jumped from the silver screen to the big time in Trailer Park Boys: The Movie. Set in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park, the raunchy, irreverent comedy centers on three pot-smoking ex-convicts as they plan their biggest and messiest heist yet.
If you’re into adult shows like Family Guy, The Simpsons, Brickleberry, or American Dad…This is a must watch show. Paradise PD is the animated comedy series that came out on Netflix just two years ago. It follows a group of bad cops who patrol a small town. But they’re not bad cops like sunglass-wearing, rule-bending, motorcycle-riding badass cops; they are just bad at their jobs. Paradise PD: they’re the worst responders.
“Game Over, Man!”
Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Blake Anderson star in Game Over, Man! An adventure comedy about a group of nobodies who become heroes when a hotel hosting a star-studded Los Angeles party is taken hostage by bad guys. From the creators of Workaholics comes this juvenile film filled with the drugs, debauchery and funny antics that any stoner would love to join…from their couches, of course.
